Event Recap — TurtleHacks

TurtleHacks 2023 was a 36-hour green-centric hybrid hackathon targeting high-school and university students in Canada with the goal of saving the turtles or solving any other environmental concern through innovation. This year’s event took place on May 12–14th and brought together 347 participants that submitted a total of 40 projects.

Hackers had the chance to win up to $9,119 in cash prizes. Apart from the 1st place overall winner, runner-up, and honorable mention, other prize tracks included the Marie Curie Award (awarded to a team with half or more female participants), Best Beginner Hack (awarded to a team with half or more first-time hackers), and Best Environmental Hack (awarded to a team whose project presents the most value to the environment).
