Event Recap — HackNITR

HackNITR 4.0 was the 4th annual 3-day hackathon organized by NITR (National Institute of Technology, Rourkela) based in Rourkela, India; which took place virtually on January 6–8th, 2023. It is among some of India’s largest student-run hackathons and aims at providing a platform for students and developers from all over the world to collaborate and work on innovative projects in various fields.

The event gathered approximately 5200+ participants globally and more than 390+ projects were submitted. Out of all the submissions, the best 23 teams; including 3 international teams, were chosen for a 24-hour offline round at NIT Rourkela, where the international teams presented online.The hackathon focused only on one general track “Open Innovity”, but had 13 sponsored tracks under which the hackers could submit their projects. HackNITR 4.0 offered participants access to workshops, mentorship, and resources to help them develop their projects. In addition, the event also awarded top projects with a range of cash prizes and other gifts amounting to over $549(₹45,000).

The HackNITR team shared that “The goal of organizing HackNITR has been to grow our local community and give hackers an unforgettable hacking experience by providing a platform to transform their ideas into prototypes and solve the enigmas. We aspire to reach out to as many hackers as we can who feel inclusive. We especially want to welcome newcomers and help them get involved in an activity to grow their involvement in our community. And with the massive increase in the number of participants and submitted projects in the 4th edition of hackNITR, we have certainly had tremendous success and are most proud of it. We started out with an objective and successfully fulfilled the goals that we had set for ourselves.”
