Event Recap — HackerStellar

HackerStellar 2023 was a 24-hour hackathon hosted by the Computer Society of India Student’s Chapter at K.J. Somaiya College of Engineering (CSI KJSCE), which took place on April 15–16th. With registrations from over 55+ cities in India covering all the regions of the country, HackerStellar was able to bring together a total of 117 participants (A.K.A “Hacktronauts”) that submitted a total of 29 projects.

Hacktronauts had the chance to win a number of cash prizes that amounted up to ₹15k INR ($181USD) as well as other prizes and internship opportunities. This event focused on finding innovative solutions using web development, artificial intelligence/machine learning, and blockchain technologies. Hacktronauts from different backgrounds and skill levels formed teams to worked on projects related to one of the three challenge tracks:

WebApp: Explore the potential of web and mobile applications to solve real-world problems and improve lives.

AI/ML: Harness the power of artificial intelligence and machine learning to build smart solutions that can learn and adapt.

Blockchain: Utilize blockchain technology to develop, secure and decentralize systems that can increase transparency and trust.

Inspired by the interests of the general audience, as well as by the current and future demands of the industry, the challenge tracks were designed to encourage Hacktronauts to think critically and creatively about how to use different technologies to solve real-world problems. Three guest speakers (Mr. Sunil Kumar, Mr Prashant Sangoi, and Ms.Mayuri Jain) from StoneX, a global financial services network that connects companies, organizations, traders and investors to the global markets ecosystem through a unique blend of digital platforms, end-to-end clearing and execution services, high-touch service and deep expertise1, shared their knowledge and experience on how to use different technologies to create value and solve problems in the financial sector.

“The response and reach of the hackathon were truly remarkable. Registrations poured in from over 55 cities across India, spanning from Jammu in the North to Chennai in the South, and from Kolkata in the East to Surat in the West. The event attracted participants from all corners of the country, reflecting the widespread enthusiasm and engagement. The diverse geographical representation showcased the nationwide interest and involvement in the hackathon, making it a truly inclusive and impactful event.”
